10 Lepers
And as he entered into a
certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers which stood afar off: and they
lifted up their voices and said Jesus master have mercy on us. And when he saw them he
said unto them "go shew yourselves unto the priests." and it came to pass that
as they went they were cleansed. Luke 17:12-14
Now I would like to point out something here. These ten men were lepers. They
were required by law to be separate from the main people because of leprosy being a
contagious disease. They called unto Jesus. He did not have to go near unto them. He did
not have to lay hands on them. He merely spoke and told them to go unto the priests. The
reason for this was the priests were the ones that determined if a person was cleansed of
leprosy or not according to the law. At the time he spoke this they had not been healed
they were not yet cleansed. It was only as they went that they were cleansed. If they had
not took the steps of going toward the priests then they would not have been cleansed
because they did not obey. They acted upon the faith of knowing he told them to do this
therefore they accepted by the time they got there all would be well.
So many times this is what happens with Christians today. The Lord will tell
them to do something and they are afraid of the consequences. If the lepers had said,
"well, we're not clean why should we go to the
priest" then they would never have been cleansed.
Its the same today. We ask for a healing but if the Lord tells us to do
something we think I can't do that. Maybe he commanded you to go to the doctor and get the
proof that you were healed. If he told you to go into the doctor and say "The Lord
healed me I want a new MRI scan to prove there is no more cancer there," then how
many would afraid to do that. How many actually have the faith to go demand the proof that
we were healed? Most would be scared to do this. What if the cancer is still
there? I'll look like a fool.
Our pride comes in the way of our healing. It is this one seed of doubt
that will keep us from being healed. We have to have total faith. Had
there been any doubt in the lepers heart they could not have been
cleansed because they would not have obeyed. We are told obedience is better than
sacrifice yet so many of us would rather give up something
than obey the Lord and do what he tells us to do. It is the act of faith
of obeying many times that we get our healing from. Our healings can
come in the form of a miracle where the blind eye immediately receives
sight but with some things its the claiming of a healing where we get
it. If the Lord heals us of a cold we have to claim it and not when we
start feeling bad again say, "oh I guess he didn't heal me it must be
his will for me to be sick." We have to stand on the promise of his
healing, if we doubt then we will not receive. The Lord says "seek and
ye shall find" if we do not look for our healing we will not find it.
If a child is on an Easter egg hunt they cannot find the eggs and claim
them for their own if they did not look for them. It is the same with
anything we want from the Lord we must look for it expecting it and we
shall receive it.
Have a blessed day in the Lord!
